Yes, it is true, sex is boring...if you are discussing it on T&S. Talk about sucking the life out of a subject. Wow, lets talk about blastulas and binary fission while we're at it.

P.S., No, we are not back danithew, we are still on vacation until early next week, and, yes, your secretary does think you are wierd, because.

P.P.S., Kingsley, wild or no, we will not be discussing any interesting tidbits of our personal lives here.

P.P.P.S, Julie*, come on, do you have to delete things so vigorously?

*if it wasn't you who deleted it, insert whoever's name should be here (e.g., Kaimi, whoever).

Sorry to disappoint, but I haven't deleted anything in months.

Oh Snarkernacle, thank you for hearing my blogger plea. On vacation or not, I knew you couldn't resist posting about this.

p.s. I don't have a secretary, numnut. :)

Hurrah! You did catch that thread before it got cold.

I can smile again today.

With that, I'm going to sleep.

danithew -- no secretary, that is what you get for supporting basketball.

Julie,

If you aren't the mad censor there at T&S, then who is?

danithew,

Then everyone else thinks you're wierd.

Stephen,

If I didn't know any better I would accuse you of being the first SnarkerNacle groupie.

Snark,

That means nothing. Even I think I'm weird.

T&S is a bunch of yuppy puppies. They carefully tailor the comments so that anything non-yuppy doesn't appear.

FWIW the hawaiian hothead is the main censor.

Cool, a nickname. Bestowed by an anonymous commenter, no less. So nice to see you again, George.

AnonyGeorge is right, of course, that I am an incorrigible hothead. In fact, I WISH that I had deleted the comments in question. Deleting comments is a great buzz. Sometimes I delete half a dozen in a row, just for fun. I really don't need any other reason -- our "flexible" comment policy provides perfect cover. Your 3:15 Monday comment, Danithew? It provided a few seconds of amusement before it succombed to the mighty power of the DELETE button. And all of those "technical errors" the blog sometimes suffers? Yep, great cover story for the occasional truly wicked, paint-the-town-red comment deletion bender.

All your comments are belong to me! Hah!

But I must admit, someone must have beaten me to the punch this time. Heck and gravy, I didn't even so much as SEE the comments in question. And that makes me SO MAD. I'm going to go delete a swath through a few threads just to let off some steam.

Someone has to do it. If we don't support the arts, who will?

Snarkey, you can do better than this, but I forgive you given the holiday lull.

What’s the surprise that the T&S crowd can't handle sex? It's complicated enough for me. My wife's been upset w/ me for months cause I don't wish to establish a relationship w/ a grown biological son, nor meet up w/ his widowed mom, or tell my kids they have a half-brother. The man had a dad who raised him and thinks he’s fully related to his siblings; some secrets should be taken to the grave. As far as catching up w/ his mom, who abruptly dumped me ~26 years ago, quickly married another guy, apparently cause she had to, and now informs me all these years later via a letter and photo that the kid’s mine (he is, no doubt about it) and wants us all to get together cause the kid’s dad has past on, me thinks she’s lonely (I’m being polite for you Snarkey).

My wife says not everyone looks at the world in the harsh carnal way I do, and I should go to Southern Cal and catch-up w/ her and discuss our son. This is my wife who stole me from and replaced a live-in gf. I love my wife, but she’s lost her edge on this stuff. The gal I married wouldn’t let me near other women.

Now a younger woman w/ an infertile hubby is aggressively hitting on me at work (very complicated situation), and my wife thinks I should be friendlier to her and her hubby.

My family life is messed up big time (Snarkey, I hope you appreciate the restraint I’m exercising here.)

Anyway, no way that T&S bunch has a clue as to how complicated real life is.

uh, Steve. I'm thinking about this all today.

I'll get back to you.

Response to Jodi Stoddard said... @ January 2, 2006 at 6:45 AM

Steve EM, wow, thanks so much for exercising restraint. After reading your missive, I really have to wonder if you are the one that is clueless about sex, given your obvious lack of wisdom as a practitioner.

Also, taking things to the grave doesn't really work in LDS theology, since we believe in an afterlife and resurrection and all that, when people's memories are fully restored. If you think you can get around this one by fully exercising denial, you are sadly mistaken.

And, finally, I am confidant you find yourself utterly irresistable, but I doubt all of the women around you feel the same way.

Love ya Snarkey. Happy New Year. My rant resulted from one of my short fuses: the backlash-against-polygamy prudishness and self salvation anti-grace folk theology that dominates modern Mormon culture (typified at T&S) such that people are discouraged from speaking of past sins and how they overcame them by the hope of JC and received forgiveness by the grace of JC.

But I shouldn't have used my personal problems as a counter example of the complexities of sex on your humorous site, and may post at Mormon Open Forum or other suitable venue if/when I’m more comfy about the whole complicated mess. However, for the record, I’m not in denial about anything and fully appreciate that in the eternities we’ll all know the whole truth about a lot of stuff. That doesn’t mean it’s helpful for everyone to know everything now (the sealed part of the BofM comes to mind).
