OK, Nacle, here is the bottom of the barrel, the bitter aftertaste, the scrapple of Mormon blogging. Yes, its time for The Giblets.

We got a lot more votes in than I expected, enough for a statistically significant representative sample, although it would be pretty easy to argue the population sampled was skewed. And, just in the interest of full disclosure, the Prime Snarker did not vote, although some members of Team SnarkerNacle may have voted.

The best is there are a lot of people who apparently hate the SnarkerNacle who read the SnarkerNacle. Now, this makes pretty much no sense to the Snarker, but, hey, who said people had to make sense?

On to the results!

Wow, a lot of people are still bitter about that whole Blather of Heathens thing. Thats been over and done with for awhile, and nobody posts there anymore except spambots, but some wounds take longer to heal than others. Predictably, most SnarkerNacle readers agreed with the chihuahua and voted T&S the worst. And then FMH and SN brought up the rear. Like its not hard to guess who those 9 people are.

American Mormons display their xenophobia and cultural self-absorption with pride as they reject their neighbors to the North! Not too surprsing, but these results were probably skewed by the Olympics Canadian Medals snafu on the Moarch.

Pretty even outcome here with DKL only barely winning by a nose. We might deduce from these results that there is clearly no one single most reviled person on the Nacle, so DKL, you need to stop heralding yourself as such forthwith! I mean, come on, you only beat me and Adam by one vote, and that is hardly a decisive victory. So step off.

Wow, Steve EM crushed the competition here. No doubt about it, the man's skills at giving offense are truly exemplary and without equal.

This turned out to be more of a Current Events unpopularity category than anything else, as all of these were pretty recent. Casting our minds back, there were lots worse things going on in the Nacle than accidental RSS feeds finding their way into the Moarch page. Since the FMH sex talk thread didn't win, its safe to assume the Nacle is populated with a lot of people with prurient interest, a lot more non-Victorian, non-stuffy, and non-white bread than most people would think.

Clear breakaway winner here. The Nacle hates it when egotistical know-it-alls clash in public for the whole world to behold their transcendent brilliance. And, yet, it happens pretty much every day. Let this be a warning to you know-it-alls.

Strictly speaking, DKL shouldn't have even been nominated for this category since he is infamous, but people submit and we post. Geoff's penchant for speculation gets him some ill will, but nothing compared to the Snarker and the clear leader, the ever present, super-opinionated Julie Smith, who despite her foibles is still worshipped and respected as one of the more prolofic T&S permabores.

Yup, so there you have it. An act of catharsis, or just petty revenge driven by jealousy, anger and hatred? Only the Snarker knows!

I feel the need to defend my fellow Commonwealthers: Our Thoughts is a decent blog. The Olympic thing, as you say Snarky, is an unfair marker of Giblethood.

The Giblets are mean, Snarkers. Mean, mean, mean. You'll be apologising to Julie, DKL, Kim et. al. when they are gods and you are just a ministering angel....

Ronan,

All of the stuff was submitted by you lovely Naclerites, so go yell at them. And I didn't even vote. Did you vote?

As for mean, how about the Niblets? Isn't it mean to pick out only a few for glory, laud and honor and make everyone else feel mediocre and unloved? I am sure all of the other people competing against SnarkerNacle for best new blog were irritated when we won and they didn't. You don't seem too upset about that.

I'll apologize to Kim, but the other two haven't much chance of being exalted, so I am not too worried about that.

I should add that Kim went out his way to take the Olypic sidebar announcements out of his main feed after I mentioned it. That should have removed Our Thoughts from the running on a couple of these catgories I think...

Yes, Snarky, promoting elitism is its own form of "mean." I take your point. Still, a TK Smoothie awaits you, my friend. I think DKL will be heading the Ministry for TK Smoothies in the CK, so be warned. He will have his revenge.

You didn't answer the question, Ronan. Did you vote in the Giblets?

Anonymous said... @ March 8, 2006 at 10:39 AM

Of course I did SN!!

Response to Jodi Stoddard said... @ March 8, 2006 at 10:45 AM

Then welcome to the Telestial Kingdom, bunkmate.

Yep. We'll have fun.

Does this make me the man from Nantucket? My wife oftens says that's why she married me.

Again, better a Giblet than a Covlet or a Niblet.

Response to Jodi Stoddard said... @ March 8, 2006 at 1:36 PM

Steve EM, are you really that dense?

Look, the vast majority of people on the Nacle find your comments to be repellant at the very best. Doesn't that mean something to you? Doesn't it suggest you tone it down and not be such a rude boor who vomits adolescent filth all over everyone's blogs? No? Don't you get it Steve?

Here it is loud and clear: You need to stop acting like such a swine.

I think yall should do a run-off in the closer categories.

Has it occured to anyone that maybe some people don't like Our Thoughts for reasons that have nothing to do with the olympics issues?

Snarker, since I did get the most votes, I'm going to insist on retaining the appellation "The most reviled participant in the bloggernacle." (And I like to think that I pull it all off with a certain effortless aplomb.)

But if your point is that people don't dislike me as much as I want them to, then you may well be correct. The unfortunate thing is that when you're at the bottom, there's really no place to go but up.

Response to Jodi Stoddard said... @ March 8, 2006 at 7:30 PM

DKL, I bow to your effortless aplomb.

I should add, Snarker, that I do think that what you and some others have said about the Sievers and their blog "Our Thoughts" is plain rude. They're good citizens of bloggernacle and solid contributors. There's nothing clever about insulting him for his interpretive perspective.

Moreover, your disparaging remarks about Julie in Austin and especially about Steve EM do not even make an attempt to be humorous. I can't see how they serve any purpose but to offer undeserved injury.

That said, I'm not complaining about my own position, since I'm happy to sit atop my category. It compliments the beating I took in the Bloggernacle Death Match quite nicely.

Anonymous said... @ March 8, 2006 at 11:32 PM

For the record, I don't have anything against Our Thoughts or the Sievers. Sure, they're more than a little quirky, but who isn't?

I only voted for them because I couldn't vote for any of the other choices.

So, Sievers, take heart! You only won because of a lack of other options.

P.S. Julie, on the other hand, deserves everything she gets. She doesn't try very hard to be nice.

Anonymous said... @ March 9, 2006 at 8:33 PM

Shucks, you all are going to make me cry.

Oh and for the record, The Sievers are only 1/4 of the OT contributors.

Oh, and Steve EM, we love having you commenting at Our Thoughts. We don't find you repellent (even though some of our other regulars do).

Thanks for the encouragement Kim; you do have a neat blog. I wear my Giblet as a badge of honor. It even beats the scarlet letters I abandoned when DMI Dave unbanned me (much good did come from BofH). I wonder if I’m still banned at T&S?

Good job, everyone. I didn't vote because I couldn't think of a worst anybody or anything. Didn't want to.

I hate that I'm smarter than you stuff, too, I also love it, when I'm smarter than you.

Julie, no offense, but you do come off mean. You remind me of the person who knew a lot about Jesus, but didn't know Jesus.

DKL, you deserve all the adulation you get. And I mean that in the nicest possible way. You do not come off mean. Sometimes you come off unintelligible, but Nate does that, too. I figure you're in the same league.

I've just discovered the Seviers blog, although I stumbled on it from time to time. I find a sort of contentious, easy offended tone there, in the posters and sometimes Mary, but their topics are bar none the best.

I love their topics. The bickering is annoying. I suggest ignoring the small arguments and letting people sound off without response and I think that might put an end to that. Kim and Mary, I think you're on the right track and I try to link to you guys every day now.

The thing I love about snarker is that it/they/he is/are helping us to keep our perspective, to keep a sense of humor about ourselves. I think we are all awesome people with an awareness and an eloquence that goes above the rest in our boring Molly Mormon circles. We are special. Yes, we are.

I see that every day in the way you guys write, in the way you move me and make me laugh and infuriate me. You guys, this is unique. We are elite. Us. Me. You. Yup.

I have this feeling that we are bordering on something truly great here, that we have found a jewel, and barring the prophet's order to stop blogging (see Our Thoughts), which I would obey instantly, offers an opportunity for spiritual growth and friendship that many of us might never find elsewhere.

But if we start to take ourselves too seriously, we lose perspective and we go off and start new churches and get people to drink cyanide laced koolaid and stuff like that. Hitler was unique, too, just like Mother Teresa. One went one way, one went another.

I've got to go unpack. You guys, I bought 5 hammocks in Mexico, plus tons of other stuff. I had to buy two new suitcases and pay $100 to bring back all the stuff. I did the same damn thing last year in New York! Will I ever learn?

Snarker, you are bitchin. Anybody remember when that was a compliment? I was a 13 year old expert skateboarder on the streets of Long Beach. Boss, huh? :)

annegb

thanks! we enjoy having you visit and comment (really we do!).
i'm surprised it appears as if i get offended easily, because i don't really offend easily at all, though i tend to be a bit of a mother bear and jump to the defense of my loved ones and friends, yes. i am pretty opinionated though. kim NEVER gets offended. EVER. really it's quite funny, people think they offend him, but they don't. he does like a good debate though.

but i rarely post on our thoughts, it's mostly kim, my mum in law, jeff and rick.
