File under: Libel

One of the Times & Seasons permabores (NOT A GUEST!!!) has finally put up a post up that has resulted in more than 100 comments (WOOO!). Not because of the quality of content of the post, but because of a nauseating threadjack by DKL and ARJ, who cannot talk enough about what a jerk the MTC president was and how in the right they were all along and how wrong he was. Which prompts an exmo to go on about how much his awful mission experience harmed him. Poetry in motion.

NEWSFLASH: Adversity chastens some, hardens others.

Reading the thread is like watching a car wreck in slow motion. You know what it going to happen and it goes ever so slowly, but then WHAM it happens. DKL initially says he doesn't think it is appropriate to talk about the finer details of his hate for Tiny (oopies! not Tiny Grant, but Klein), he then all too eagerly spills his guts at the slightest prompting. The best is when DKL makes it clear that two wrongs makes it right, even if its the wrong guy you have been badmouthing for past couple of days. Hopefully AnneGB didn't get around to assaulting Tiny before Klein was identified as the one she should be attacking. Extra props to AnneGB for suggesting Sister Missionaries are being sexually abused and don't even know it. Oy vey!.

You would think T&S wouldn't allow such bile to be vented publicly, but, hey, that is a lot of comments for a permabore. And, hits from ex-mos still count towards your total, which you put in big BOLD letters, not that you want anyone to see that. And it is Nate's baby, and nobody can call Nate's baby ugly, without risking the vengeful wrath of Kaimi. So on it goes. Cue Adam Greenwood for an ultra-conservative, contentious, traffic-driving backlash in 3...2...

Well done. I was acutally waiting for that. The thread jack would have been sweeter though if Nate had cared. In any case, I think that he owes DKL and me a steak and lobster dinner for propelling his thread to as many comments as it has.

I really am upset that DKL doesn't have the firmest grasp on who it was that kicked him out. My righteous indignation has been quenched a bit by the fact that my supporting evidence turns out to be evidence against President Klein.

When DKL couldn't remember Tiny's withered leg that should have been a warning sign to me. Also, annegb should take that into account if she does smack him upside the head. He'd probably tear her apart in close quarters combat but she could certainly run away from him if she got in and got out quickly enough. I'm not sure if Klein has a similar weakness she could exploit.

Makes one wonder why I'm still banned at T&S? Least Christian bunch in the Nacle.

The MTC was pretty good circa late 1970s. They even had individual showers back then, at least in my dorm. I'm not circumcised and would be too embarrassed to properly clean myself around other guys (Most of whom don't have to deal with that hygiene issue and would probably think I was playing with myself.).

Now, after the MTC, my first MP as a complete AH, but my second was G-d's gift to the missionary. And my mission in the South of France was pretty cushy. So I can’t complain. My Son is less fortunate and presently serves in the States under a complete rule inebriated AH. C'est la vie.

Actually, it seems that annegb only has Tiny to go after. President Klein passed away about a year ago.

President Klein's passing should be of great comfort to you, DKL and all the others who hate him.

long live the chihuahua!! you guys are back on it again.

I don't even know who President Klein is. I am a bit unique in that I know the name of the MTC president I served under. It was (President/Coach/Tiny) Charles Grant. I was just a bit fuzzy on when it was he started and ended his service.

Good snark!

Somebody should snark Steve Em for way, way, WAY TMI up there.

Anonymous said... @ April 11, 2006 at 4:48 PM

OK, regarding the TMI charge, I just wanted to express why I appreciated individual showers at the MTC, which I heard were done away with at some point. I wasn't expecting such privacy and it was greatly appreciated. Beyond my personal, relatively rare in the USA, sliding back the foreskin to wash snakey issue, there's another private area we all share that one really needs some privacy to properly wash.

Of course I could have handled group showering in the MTC. I'm just expressing gratitude that I didn't have to and for the continuation of my standards of cleanliness that private showering allowed. Sorry if my speaking from the heart offends some.

Beyond the MTC, unlike most commenters on that T&S thread, I would definitely do my mission over again in a heartbeat. Yes, I’d do some things differently and would have probably quit a couple months early if the MP refused to release me from the leadership as I’ve commented about elsewhere in the Nacle. But I wouldn't hesitate to go back again.

Steve EM, nobody...believe me...NOBODY wants to hear about your anteater or snakey. If you comment about your wiener again, it will be deleted. Eeew. OK? Eew.

snarkette,

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Um, was I the only one who thought that post just turned into a chance for people to piss and moan and try to one up each other with faith crushing experiences?

Anonymous said... @ April 12, 2006 at 8:33 AM

Well, I could have commented on my positive missionary experience (and without the TMI regarding my MTC experience) on that thread, but I'm banned at T&S. Yes, I've been banned at a handful of sites, but T&S is the only site to perpetually do so, and the only site to presently ban me.

Interesting that by banning free thinking straight talkers, such as moi, they're left with a bunch of sniffing, faithless, whiney commenters.

Thanks Steve, it's your support that keeps me going.

Anonymous said... @ April 12, 2006 at 3:51 PM

ARJ, I don't mean to target anyone in particular. There's just a limit to how much "missions suck" talk that one can stomach from a bunch of people who otherwise seem to carry themselves as some sort of pharisaical elite.

Granted I was a free sprit “pagan” (but a focused hard working one) on my mission. And being in leadership positions for most of my mission probably meant I avoided assignment to some of the more challenging missionaries. But there must be many “arrows” out there who had an overall positive mission experience? Although, it now recall that virtually all the arrows I served with have left the church.

Perhaps it’s the perpetual irony of orthodoxy always leading to apostasy? Or maybe I’m just having fun mocking the self righteous, ban happy T&S crowd?

steve em,
I don't believe that this site condones fun through the mocking of others, oh wait...

You're cariacaturing yourself again Steve.

Well Seth, you should see my latest drug comments over at M*. Maybe that's why wifey often asks "When are we going to do Mardi Gras again", or "When are we going back to the Netherlands".

I don't know Steve ...

"should" is such a loaded term ...
