Jettboy is pulling together an esteemed group of Bloggernacle Scholars to post "main and unique message of one of the prophets, or a topic that is not usually discussed." This is surprising since "the Book of Mormon has been read by millions, but understood by few in its scope". Apparently Jettboy and his cadre of Symposiumposters are among these "few". But, it looks like the ranks of his symposium guests are yet to be filled, since he runs a solo blog and is soliciting guest posts to link to. So by "few", he means "one" and this "symposium" is in fact a "monologue". Rumor has it some of the topics are:

The Book of Mormon is One Giant Chiasm and that Proves it is Inspired

    Nephi, Large in Stature:Steroid Scandal?

Jaredite Sixteen Stones,Evidence of Cold Fusion Uncovered!

Political Liberalism as Church of Devil:Pro and Con

What Jacob Really Meant when he said Only One Wife

Sariah's Menopause Real Source of Complaining

Ancient Lehite Traveling Acapella Solo:And they went with one accord

Shiz Gasps:BYU pre-med program seeks volunteers for trials to prove medical possibility

Oh that I were an Angel:Alma seeks first round LA draft pick (Ammon drafted ahead of Alma after displaying incredible pitching accuracy in tryouts)

Tight Like Unto a Dish:Jaredites Descendents Sue US Navy over Patent Infringement on New Virginia Class Submarine Technologies

Gandianton's Savings & Loan:Misunderstood Complex Informal Bartering System

Awww yeah, this is going to be hot!

"The intention is based on my belief that the Book of Mormon has been read by millions, but understood by few in its scope."

I love the smell of hubris in the morning!

They ought to combine the topics on Sariah and cold fusion and call it Cold Fusion and Hot Flashes.

And a paper exploring the contributions of Shiz to missionaryspeak would get my interest.

Sariah had children after she was menopausal? What a miracle! More proof that it was inspired!

They could do an essay about Jacob's talk in the temple and what it implies about the current Nephite population. For a sizeable group of men to be engaged with concubines and for their wives and children not to know about it, just what size of population do you have to have?

That leads one to questions such as just how large was Ishmael's household? Abraham's was large enough to include over three hundred men born and trained exclusively for war. There may have been a reason for the ship that Nephi built being like one they had never seen before other than a lack of exposure to ships.

Consider what it does to the various theories if Lehi's party makes landfall with 350-400 people in it and then immediately moves in and dominates some natives. Nephi irritates Lamen all the more by leaving in the middle of the night with all the slaves and servants, who, since they hit their seven year renewal dates in the desert, had to chose between being left alone or having their ears pierced.

Thus he "enslaved them in the wilderness" -- leading their children to complain but Nephi to insist he had done nothing unlawful.

You can build a completely different story than most people do from that start.

Wow, I finally made the big time! Also, it must have been a slow bloggernacle week. Yes, I already do have a list of people lined up to write guest posts. No, I am not particularly bad off in that department. Yes, I am interested in anyone else if they want to join.

"I love the smell of hubris in the morning!"

If it is hubris I am not alone. I am in good company with leaders of the Church, Hugh Nibley, and Terry L Givens with my opinion that it is read more than understood. However, the hubris does come in if I consider myself equal to them; and I don't.

By the way, my favorite topics:

"Sariah's Menopause Real Source of Complaining" and the better "They ought to combine the topics on Sariah and cold fusion and call it Cold Fusion and Hot Flashes."

"Shiz Gasps:BYU pre-med program seeks volunteers for trials to prove medical possibility"

"Tight Like Unto a Dish:Jaredites Descendents Sue US Navy over Patent Infringement on New Virginia Class Submarine Technologies" and you could add to that, "What the Book of Mormon would be like if written by Tom Clancy"

Another possible topic, "The Book of Mormon Code: Unlocking the Sealed Plates"

Don't be hasty. mostly, we're mocking you because you're an utter unknown nobody who is pretending to do something grown-up. Like a girl trying on mommy's shoes and makeup. It just don't fit you, lil' jettboy.

Yea . . . but, you know what they say about bad publicity. Besides, I haven't put the shoe on yet. Beyond that, as this is a religiously related blog even as it mocks, it is the nobody shameful of the world that God seems to use as instruments. Then there is the thing about the mouths of babes, or blessed be the children, and etc.

Its isn't like my comments didn't have its own subtle mockery. I do like this place and do understand what a "grown up" idea I have with such a lil' blog. Taking chances is half the fun - even for little girls wearing mommy's shoes and makeup.

"my belief that the Book of Mormon has been read by millions, but understood by few in its scope"

"it is the nobody shameful of the world that God seems to use as instruments."

you see, Jettboy, that the implications of these sentences is that you are an instrument of God, one of the fortunate few who REALLY gets the BoM. What pride! You are NOT the instrument of God here -- you're just trying to have a buncha blogs posts. Time for you to take yourself down about 1000 notches.

psst: it's Terryl Givens, not Terry L. Maybe you should read an author before you hint that they think along your lines.
