Since BYU is out of session, Daniel Peterson, occasional Naccler, is bored and trolling for fun. So he hops onto google and site searches his name to turn up a thread that is over a year old and takes a hyper-literal approach to something obviously tongue in cheek in order to stir up some trouble. Then he hops on over onto to a more recent thread to share the love by resurrecting it too after three days in the tomb, firing all rockets on full. How nice. Ah, those out-of-work, apologists got to keep the saw sharp somehow when the anti-mormons aren't biting.

Any time I read Daniel Peterson I get an intense, throbbing headache.

No, Peterson was bored because his favorite playground, the FAIR message boards, was closed down temporarily following a spam attack.

Apparently comments have been closed at the BCC thread. I had one more thing to say to Steve Evans about the reception that Peterson usually gets in the bloggernacle, so I'll post it here.

This is in response to Steve's last comment about him not playing the same game as Peterson:

"Steve, I do see you playing the same game as Dan, and I mean that as a compliment, not a put down.

You're both intelligent, thoughtful and funny. You both have a passionate view of LDS doctrine and life and you both go to great lengths to articulate them, you mostly at BCC and in the bloggernacle and Dan mostly at FAIR/FARMS. You both have a tendency to go overboard with your barbs and sarcasm that can be misinterpreted by those who don't have the same sense of humor or by those looking to find fault.

I get the same satisfaction out of reading a good Dan Peterson zinger that I get reading the good zingers here on BCC and other bloggernacle fora. I enjoy the combination of erudition, passsion and wit in both. And that is why I can't understand why he is almost villified by so many people whenever he shows up. You have many more similarities than differences."

KLC, why post it here? It's not like he's going to read your reply. It was weird of you to try and kick that dead horse. My guess it that's why the thread was closed - people (including yourself) were just talking in circles.

Peterson's immaturity is the only thing funny about him or his "zingers."

Anon,

What about blogs and internet discussion isn't "talking in circles"? Has anything ever been resolved in all of the thousands of posts about SSM, feminism? Do any of those posts cover new ground? Does yours?

I posted it here because I had finished typing it into BCC minutes after Steve had replied to me and hit the Post button only to find that Steve had closed comments right after he made his final comment. I had it all typed out, I just decided to post it here for the heck of it. What other reason does anyone have for posting anything on the internet?

But that is typical Steve, he always wants to remind everyone that BCC is his playground and if he doesn't like what you say he'll just take his ball and go home.

Seems more than fair and a good reason to post.
